Project Proposal

·         I am in the process of fulfilling the brief and creating a final outcome based on nature. The final piece shall use the genre of nature as a means to convey the passing of time. For my final piece I am currently visualising a rectangular canvas broken down into twelve sections, with each section representing one of the months of the year. These parts will all have an individual colour relevant to the month i.e. December would be a deep blue.
The sections however only make up the background, in the foreground I plan to have an animal (one in each section) based on animals commonly found during those months i.e. December – a Robin.

·         Current influences include one of Grayson Perry’s vases – ‘Boring Cool People’. This piece has reinforced one of my initial ideas of implementing strong, single colour backgrounds in my final piece. Also gained from this vase is the idea of drawing or tracing animals onto my piece, each using a thin black outline (stroke) with a bright white fill to present a slick image. My initial ideas stemmed from a mindmap I created at an earlier date.

·         I am going to use acrylic paints, and apply them very thickly onto my final piece to create a very strong, fixed colour on the background. Following this I shall monoprint images of the animals onto white card, then cut this imagery out and stick this card onto the sections on the background.

Timescale:                   10th December – 9:00 – 11:00: Project Research (250 words)
/ 11:30 – 1:30: Project Proposal

17th December -  9:00 – 4:30: Begin work on the final piece, starting with background elements.

                                        7th January – 9:00 – 4:30: Complete monoprints of animals.

                                        14th January – 9:00 – 1:30: Conduct peer review, take feedback.
/2:30 – 4:30: Using aquired feedback, work into my final piece further and make changes based on the peer review.

21st January – 9:00 - 4:30: Photograph and mount the work. Then evaluate end result and sketchbook.

·         To evaluate the project I plan to have a peer review or tutorial near the project deadline. I shall also annotate throughout the entire process of developing, designing and making the final piece. This should assist me in the creation and design necessary in the project. I shall state what I have done to create the final piece, the methods used and whether or not my work meets the brief.

Current Plans - visual studies

At the moment I plan on creating a final piece of card or paper divided into twelve segments of different colours - these colours shall each represent a different month of the year ( red, blue & etc ). I shall illustrate a relevant animal over each one.
